Orange Sparkle Ball Introduces Penny Pickup

Orange Sparkle Ball Presents

Introducing Penny Pickup by Orange Sparkle Ball - a platform where autonomous and micromobility solutions can be hailed for specific material and waste product types and redistributed to the most viable, sustainable destination that ensures their proper reuse, recycling, refurbishment, and redistribution.

For the last 18 months, Orange Sparkle Ball has been investigating the logistics of material pickup and redistribution for residential and commercial users. How can we utilize micromobility solutions in a marketplace to pick up bi-products, non-traditional recyclables, food waste, batteries, and more? Can we divert these materials from landfills and find a sustainable, valuable destination for their re-use or end-of-life processing?

Utilizing the learnings kickstarted by four pilots currently being run as a part of our Michigan Economic Development Corporation Real-World Deployment Grant as well as our two Transportation Innovation Zone permits issued by the City of Detroit’s Office of Mobility Innovation, Orange Sparkle Ball is building a hail-a-bot platform for small scale removal and redistribution. By the end of 2024, Orange Sparkle Ball will have investigated four different materials use cases with over 5 potential materials destinations interested in partnership.

The vision for the platform is to be able to schedule one-time or recurring pickups to both residential and commercial locations. The user will select one or more material types they would like to get out of their home or business, combining multiple materials in a single pickup, and feel confident that the pickup will make it to the best destination for processing or reuse. Orange Sparkle Ball is excited to utilize Penny Pickup for three upcoming pilots focused on the pickup of plastic bags, e-waste, and food waste. Orange Sparkle Ball is also in discussion to utilize the platform for commercial properties, allowing us to continue developing for larger volume use cases.
