As information around COVID-19 continues to evolve, it can be difficult to stay up to date with what technologies are effective. In times of uncertainty, there are often misleading claims and fake “magical” fixes floating around. Ultraviolet technology is being widely discussed as sanitizing solution. However, there are different types of UV and different applications for the technology. And, we want to be clear that traditional UV is not safe for humans. In empty spaces and for object sanitization, traditional UV it can be safe and effective. However, for humans, the light generated is dangerous, much like prolonged sun exposure. It should also be noted that regardless of application, UV is not an instant sanitization method. Use of UV technology is complex. We have created some images to help explain that complexity.
